Not Enough and/or Too Much to Say

Am I the only one who's gotten so intimidated by the excellent medical bloggers out there that I've developed a severe case of writer's block?

Ugh.
Please refer to the links I've posted on the sidebar for bloggers who have many worthwhile and insightful things to say...
And, yes, I realize that I haven't even been at this for very long. I'm just trying to find the right rhythm and groove, struggling not to make a fool of myself.
Forgive the blatant whining. Hopefully I'll be back with something worthwhile.
And, yes, it's also a case of life-long, eldest-child perfectionism. Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself.

I hear ya! Personally I see a link to my site as a badge of honor :) Thanks for the link to mine-- no strings to the link I have to yours. I like your blog :)

Thanks for linking to my blog, too. I'm honored.

As for writer's block: I tell my writing students that there will always be writers better than they are. These are the people to emulate. But there will also always be writers much, much worse than they are (and they themselves are probably much, much better writers than they once were). Remembering both of those things helps us maintain perspective.

(Have you read some of the horrible blogging out there? You do NOT have to worry about making a fool of yourself!)

Anne Lamott's book BIRD BY BIRD is really good on the subject of writer's block. She says that we have to give ourselves permission to write "shitty first drafts." Once something's down on the page, we can edit as often as we want.

girly i know how you feel! i am honored to be listed on your blog and i promise to link you soon...as soon as i get that ball up in the air!
seriously, i get intimidated by those awesome medial/nursing bloggers out there too. they make me want to blog more about one of the hats i wear. but i ultimately decided that while i believe i am an awesome NICU nurse, i am much more than that so i blog what is on my mind at the moment. what amazes me is people do read what i write.
as for you, keep on doing what you do because you are awesome! i'd come running to any high risk delivery for you! ;)

The trouble with it is that sometimes I want to blog on nursing, and sometimes I just have brain droppings.

It's a dilemma. I don't know how some bloggers are ON every day. I'm so not.
